“This is Me” is a song from the movie The Greatest Showman. The movie was full of magical songs but this one takes the cake.
I’m having one of those days. Feeling unwanted, ignored, and lost in life. In my moment of melancholy, I turn to my Spotify list, looking forward to play some Christmas music to snap me out out of my self-disappointment. I see a playlist titled “Wake Up Happy” and hit shuffle play to see if indeed it can change my mood.
Sometimes you have these moments and that’s when you’re sure there was no coincidence that a certain song played at just the right time you needed guidance. This was one of those times.
“This is Me” immediately starts playing from The Greatest Showman and I feel empowered. While the movie might have been average, the soundtrack is astonishing. A song that is easily relatable and with an empowering message, I highly endorse anyone to listen to this anthem when they need a personal boost.
In this video, Keala Settle discusses how she was nervous to step out behind the podium during rehearsals to really get into character and deliver her song. I feel like the rehearsals are an even better representation of this song than watching it take place in the movie.
