Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil comes out October 18th. Are you going?
I love Disney. I’m obsessed with the parks, the movies, and merchandise. I really can’t get enough of it. BUT, I’m also obsessed with good story-telling so prepare yourself for a very honest review.
Does anyone even remember the first Maleficent movie that came out? Would you be able to tell me exactly what happened, without relying on the original for basic details?
The only things I can recall are an almost-romance between Maleficent and King Henry…he clipped and stole her wings…and then in the end apparently they were not only retrieved, but they were also restored to her back? What?
Those are just the odd things that stood out to me. It was also very clear that Maleficent was NOT evil enough at all in her live action film because low and behold, she is the one who saves Aurora because she grew fond of the girl. *rolls eyes dramatically*
So am I eager for a second live action? No, not really. I don’t really need one. And quite frankly, if Maleficent isn’t the most badass female villain in the whole movie, then I just don’t care. One of the reasons why I love her as a villain was her spectacular crazy laugh! It’s a mix of hysteria and crazy and I LOVE that. It’s perfect for a villainess. But I am quite disappointed how she ended up being good in the last film. What’s the point!
Needless to say, if I scroll across Netflix and see this, I’d probably watch it. But I don’t know if I’ll spend $15 on it at the movies.
