The Colorado All State Treble Choir gathers in what appears to be a hotel to sing “Down to the River to Pray” by Alison Krauss. Trust me, you’ll get goose bumps!
This is what I love about college. Sometimes if you get the right group of people and one amazing idea, you can do something extraordinary. My school didn’t have a choir this big, but I wish it did. Here it’s hard to tell who is singing and who is here to listen. Based on the sheer amount of voices, I would bet there are singers on every floor shown in the video. What I’m curious about is what the staff thought, and how far did their voices carry? Do you think this happened multiple times in multiple cities? Or was this a one time event? And how come this never happens to me? Right time, right place I suppose.
Could you imagine getting out of your car, checking into this hotel and then hearing a magical soft melody drifting into the night? “Down to the River to Pray” is a song I’ve only really heard in the movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou? I enjoyed the song in the movie, but this version is something special. I love it when someone with an exceptional singing voice sings in a location that echoes the beauty of their song.
