I’ve never made soap before but can it be that hard? Watch a newbie like Safiya try it out her soap art skills and see the results!
You’ve seen those expensive but fancy hard soap bars sold in World Market, Whole Foods, or maybe just a country bumpkin kind of market. They smell lovely, they look spectacular, and they cost upwards of $10+. But is it really that difficult to make? Yes. The answer is yes, it’s incredibly difficult, no wonder they want all my money. I get it now thanks to Safiya’s feeble attempts at soap art.
I’ve bought a soap bar once before and it lasted FOREVER. I’m not a fan because it always causes a mess around the sink and it leaves my hands rubbery like cheap hotel soap. Then after a few uses, the pretty picturesque image of the soap starts to round out and look like a soggy art experiment. Regardless, I understand the initial attraction and am interested in all the ingredients and effort that goes into the art of soap making.
