I loved playing Carmen Sandiego games in grade school. Where in the United States, where in the world, where in the galaxy?! You could never find that VILE woman.
Now, Netflix has put a family spin on the lovable thief by portraying her as one of the good guys who only steals from the bad guys. Not exactly the thief I wanted, but I am intrigued all the same.
It is rather surprising that there hasn’t been a live action movie about Carmen yet. I prefer to see her as an incredibly smart antagonist, because through all her thievery, you still like her. But Netflix is taking the educational route and thus… Carmen = secret good guy. Seems as if it will be a cute children’s show but I love me some animation art so maybe I’ll see how entertaining this is for adults as well.
What are your thoughts? Should Carmen be re-written as one of the good guys with a Robin Hood complex? Or will she always be the mastermind behind every robbery from your childhood games?
