On May 28th, a four-year old boy dangled on the ledge of a balcony in Paris. Malian hero, Mamoudou Gassama scaled the four-story building to reach the child in time and bring him to safety.
22 Year-old Gassama is being called “Spiderman” by fans who witnessed this heroic rescue, for obvious reasons…no one I know can scale a four-story building with their upper body strength alone in such a short amount of time.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo on Sunday praised the heroism of Malian immigrant, Mamoudou Gassama, who scaled the facade of a four-story building to save a child hanging from a ledge, saying the city will support his effort to settle in France. The video of Gassama’s quick climbing to reach the child, cheered on by terrified onlookers, went viral on social media, with people calling the 22-year-old a real Spiderman.
He was honored by French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday and offered citizenship.
“All the (Gassama’s) documents will be put in order,” Macron told the sporty 22-year-old who has become a national hero, referring to his immigration status.
Macron gave Gassama a medal for bravery and also proposed that Gassama join the French fire service.
According to initial inquiries by the authorities, the child’s parents were not at home at the time.
The father was held for questioning by police for having left his child unattended.
The child’s mother was not in Paris at the time.
